Late last year we had to opportunity to visit Kvadrat at their flagship showroom in Copenhagen. Since 1968 the Danish company has been producing some of the most innovative and highest quality textiles in the world. To compliment their classic upholstery offerings, Kvadrat routinely collaborates on new products with contemporary artists and designers such as Peter Saville, Patricia Urquiola, and Raf Simons. The waterfront showroom is located in a former warehouse just north of Copenhagen's city centre and was designed by French brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. The space features walls constructed of glass bricks and a restrained palette of materials that create a gallery-like environment to highlight the colours and textures of the textiles on display. While a visit to Kvadrat is inspiring on many levels, the opportunity to experience their products first hand has become essential to our process as a company. This year we will continue to thoughtfully expand our fabric program, influenced in large part by the discussions and discoveries made on trips like these.
